Cadence and CreOsys Announce Joint Development of Web-based Collaborative Design Products

SAN JOSE, Calif. and FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 21, 2001--Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NYSE: CDN), the world's leading supplier of electronic design products and services, and CreOsys, Inc., the leading provider of a Web-based communication infrastructure for the global engineering industry, today announced a joint development project for new Internet-based collaborative design products and services, designed to set new standards for state-of-the-art, secure services.

The joint development is expected to be based on the CreOsys Internet-based real-time communications infrastructure and products, which focus on system and IC design engineers. These products currently form the basis for a variety of Web-based technology services, including Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company's Web-based Internet Layout Viewer service. This new development will bring together the expertise CreOsys displays in the Internet communications and infrastructure technology and the leadership Cadence® offers in EDA tools and design solutions.

``We believe that CreOsys offers the only data access architecture optimized for EDA today,'' said Kuochun Lee, president and founder at CreOsys. ``And we are the only company that allows engineers real-time desktop sharing and design communication.''

``The Internet has enabled global design and supply chain collaboration, which is changing in a fundamental way how designs are being done today,'' said Adriaan Ligtenberg, senior vice president, eMerging Business, at Cadence. ``CreOsys has been the pioneer in this space by integrating secure Internet collaboration capabilities with the Cadence tool set.''

With the improved services that are expected to become available later this year, Cadence and CreOsys will have taken another step to significantly increase design productivity.

Cadence currently offers advanced Virtual Computer-Aided Design (VCAD) services. Cadence VCAD customers can access tools and expertise securely over the Internet, thereby, allowing Cadence to provide ``virtual on-site support''. This announcement demonstrates Cadence's commitments of leveraging the Internet to gain designer productivity and process improvements.
